About

The Athens City Schools Foundation was implemented in 1994 by a group of concerened citizens for the purpose of generating support for the teachers and students in the school district.  As a 501 (c) non-profit organization, the volunteer board works to raise funds through individual and corporate sponsorships that can be used in our classrooms for supplies and equipment that support the academic goals of the school system. The Foundation also works to help expand or offer new programming and supports emergency student financial needs of students.

Mission

The mission of the Athens City Schools Foundation is to serve as an advocate in mobilizing community support for resources to enhance learning opportunities for students in the Athens City School District and to support teachers with initiatives that supplement the basic revenues of the school system.

Goals

  • To seek financial support to help meet the needs of teachers and students.
  • To award funds in the support of programs and services implemented within the school system.
  • To ensure accountability of how foundation funds are managed and utilized.
  • To promote a community that is informed about the needs of the school system and one that is knowledgeable about how their contributions impact the lives of teachers and students.
